In power and energy industry, Chengda provides its services for  commercial power projects, captive power projectss and distributed power projects, as well as renewable energy projects such as solar thermal and photovoltaic power generation. Chengda has completed dozens of medium and small captive power station projects at home and abroad,  built several large commercial power plant projects overseas, and expanded its business to  the renewable energy industry by undertaking photovoltaic and solar thermal power generation projects and having developed a number of proprietary technologies.

In the 1990s, supported by its experience and performance in domestic market, Chengda started its diversified business in the international market t. In 1993, Chengdawon the bid for Indonesian TONASA 2x25MW power plant project, which was the very first project in China's history of buyer-credit financing. In 2002, Chengda undertook in BOOT mode the Indonesian Palembang 100+50MW power station project. The Indonesian Cilacap Phase I Power Station project completed in 2006 is China’s first export of the complete set of 300MW units to the Southeast Asian market which had long been monopolized by firms from the developed countries. Up to now, the company has completed more than 10 EPC turnkey power station projects overseas, with the total installed capacity of about  6250MW, and the single unit capacity generating amounting to 1000MW.
