Since its establishment in 1958, Chengda has undertaken the general contracting of EPC projects of soda ash, chlor-alkali, ammonia, urea, carbon black, methanol, polystyrene, styrene-butadiene latex, coal-to-methanol, LNG terminal station and other projects. The scope of business covers front-end consultation, engineering design, general contracting, construction supervision, commissioning, start-up, operation and maintenance services, etc. The business areas mainly include six major sectors: salt chemical industry and its downstream industries, natural gas and coal chemical industry and its downstream industries, petrochemical industry and its downstream industries, storage and transportation engineering, power station energy, municipal works and civil construction.

Chengda has entered the overseas market since the end of the 1980s. After more than thirty years of hard work, it has successfully succeeded in more than 20 countries and regions such as the United States, Russia ，Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Indonesia, Vietnam, Bangladesh,  Uzbekistan  to build more than 40  projects, including more than 20 chemical projects, 15 power plant projects, and 3 investment projects, with a cumulative contract value of more than 9 billion US dollars. It has opened a precedent for the export of complete sets of national chemical plants, and has made positive contributions to the export of national complete sets of mechanical and electrical products
